- Some create drama, these include ficticious elements to make them seem more interesting to the viewer.
- Not all documentaries have analysis - these just include facts.
- The subject which the documentary is based upon defines how the documentary is made. This could be politics, historical events, etc... they are all made in different ways which helps them to portray the facts in a suitable way.
- Tensions between aspects - ART & REPORTAGE. For example, an art documentary would have cuts to different things while the interview is still heard, such as if they were talking about biscuits, it may cut to an image or a clip of a biscuit. A reportage documentary tends to be more intense, for example, when Princess Diana was interviewed about the breakdown of her marriage, the camera stayed on her as she was talking due to this being a much more intense subject.
- Documentary isn't made to be good looking, but informative. However, they need to include things to keep people interested whilst watching.
